Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian is located in Mississippi approximately eleven miles northeast of the City of Meridian, in both Lauderdale County and Kemper County and approximately eight miles from the Mississippi – Alabama border. The installation is situated in a primarily rural agriculture area, surrounded by farmland, forests, and the nearby Meridian Station, a census designated place (CDP). The air station is bordered on its southern and eastern sides by US Highway 45.
The NAS Meridian JLUS Study Area was designed to encompass all operational areas of the installation, as well as all land in the vicinity that may impact current or future military operations or be impacted by those operations, including areas associated with accident potential zones, noise contours, and overflight. The proposed Study Area of the NAS Meridian JLUS is the initial area of investigation for the collection of data and information. The final Study Area will be refined based on information collected and input from the public and the JLUS communities.
