Public Meetings

Second Public Meetings Held

Lauderdale County, in cooperation with the East Central Planning and Development District, hosted the second series of public meetings for the Naval Air Station Meridian (NAS Meridian) including Navy Outlying Landing Field Joe Williams (NOLF Joe Williams) Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) on February 13th and 14th, respectively.

The meeting on February 13th was located in Kemper County at the Barney B. Brown Senior Citizen Center at 5 pm. The meeting on February 14th was located in Lauderdale County at the East Mississippi Electric Power Association Auditorium at 7 pm.

The meetings included a formal presentation that provided a JLUS project overview, and an interactive exercise that was designed to obtain feedback from the public about the importance of the compatibility issues that have been identified to-date. The attendees provided input about the importance of each compatibility issue by identifying the level of importance by placing a sticky dot in the appropriate box on wall-size posters.

For more information about the NAS Meridian and NOLF Joe Williams JLUS or the JLUS process, please contact Chris Lafferty using the contact information on this webpage.
